- Progressive BA and MA programs that focus on community and global cultures and arts, music & literature studies. Curriculum embraces social activism/change philosophy, with community service required of all students.
- Our faculty and students form an integral part of San Francisco's activist community.
New College's faculty include human rights leaders of the progressive community such as Harry Britt, former San Francisco Supervisor, Judy Grahn, acclaimed poetess, and Christian Parenti, author of "Lockdown America."
- Our seminar style classes encourage interaction and discussion, with particular focus on faculty-led mentorship and one-on-one counseling.
- Our BA completion program is designed for working adults. We offer both BA/MA degrees within a supportive atmosphere/curriculum that values and incorporates the experience of working adults.
- Our Irish Studies Program, directed by Daniel P. Cassidy, is a unique addition to the emerging field of post-colonial studies. The Irish Studies program covers and critiques all aspects of Irish culture and history, including the civil-rights struggles in the North.
