| College of the Sequoias is a two-year community college offering educational and enrichment programs. The district was established in 1925 and has its main campus in Visalia, a satellite center in Hanford, a campus farm approximately two miles from the main campus, and plans for a south county satellite campus to which the college farm will relocate.
Our primary mission at College of the Sequoias is to provide education and training which will afford our students the choices of either transferring to baccalaureate institutions or leaving prepared for the job market.
Our additional commitment is to provide the following:
*Developmental and remedial education and a wide range of student services for the successful attainment of educational and career goals.
*Self-supporting community education classes, contract education and training, and related services tailored to the human and economic development of our community.
Many extracurricular activities are available, including intercollegiate athletics for both men and women, theater productions, and agriculture/livestock related judging and showing teams. Other opportunities to participate in clubs and campus-sponsored activities are available.
Visalia is located equa-distant between San Francisco and Los Angeles, is approximately two hours from the ocean and an hour from the mountains. Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks are both nearby, with lakes and rivers available for public recreation close to the community. |
