| CAMPUS SUMMARY |
| UCLA is among America's top research universities, and of this elite group, we are the only public research university established in the 20th century. At UCLA our students and faculty work in close partnership, applying revolutionary research to energize and rejuvenate the communities in which they live.
UCLA transforms its students into the world's architects of change: astronauts; Olympians; statesmen; scientists; leaders in industry and commerce; teachers; Oscar, Grammy, and Tony award winners; inventors; philanthropists. One out of every 140 Californians holds a degree from UCLA, which has the largest student population in the University of California system.
UCLA is in a spectacular location. Enveloped by urban Los Angeles, we are five miles from the Pacific Ocean and 10 miles west of Downtown. UCLA is also within a short drive of mountains, lakes, and deserts. Our 419-acre campus has its own police department, power plant, restaurants, medical facilities, gyms, botanical and sculpture gardens, movie theaters, and concert halls. |

| UNIQUE PROGRAMS |
| UCLA's students are the energy driving the university into the 21st century. Our students come from over 100 different countries and are taught nearly 100 languages. We have one of the most diverse student bodies in the country.
UCLA has one of the most community-service-minded student bodies in higher education. At any given time, one-third of our undergraduates are involved in community-service programs; that's over 8,000 students working to transform our world for the better.
Our students and faculty have propelled more than 30 of our undergraduate academic programs into the top 20 of their fields. UCLA offers outstanding opportunities for students to challenge their intellects. We have exceptional honors and undergraduate research programs. In fact, our students have presented their own research on Capitol Hill and in research conferences worldwide.
UCLA offers state-of-the-art online services to students including real-time online enrollment, online transcript access, and a class Web site for every non-tutorial course offered in the College of Letters and Science. Each UCLA student has access to Bruin Online, UCLA’s network service package, personalized Web pages, and
MyUCLA, an innovative online support tool that connects students through discussion forums, classmate messaging, and an electronic gradebook.
We provide career and professional and graduate school preparation programs. Over 600 student organizations provide students with outlets to express themselves and explore their interests. |
