Choosing a College
Choosing a college or university can be an intimidating process. The good news is that California has more than 200 colleges and universities, and we have no doubt that one of them will be a good match for you if you make an informed decision.
While no college is perfect, if you consider all the factors that are important to you, you will have a much better chance of finding the best match. One school might be the best based on location, another on cost and another on its academic programs. On balance, what is best for you?
There are lots of factors that can be used to narrow your college choice. Try using this list of factors as a way to identify your most important criteria for selecting a college. Try prioritizing your factors list high, medium and low, or essential and nice to have. How you group your factors is your choice.
As you learn more about potential colleges, including information you get from campus visits, refine your top factors list. Refining your factors should help unless you add too many factors, or you don't take the time to prioritize the factors you will be using.

Use Multiple Factors in Your Decision
It's amazing how often students select a college based only on one factor. But for most students who make informed college decisions, multiple factors come into play.
For a moment, let's change our focus from choosing a college to choosing a car. If you chose an automobile solely based on its color or without test-driving it, it is extremely unlikely you will find the right one.
But whether you're choosing a college or a car, the likelihood of choosing the right one goes way up when you include more factors in your search.
