| CAMPUS SUMMARY |
 |
Orange Coast College, located in Costa Mesa, Calif., was founded in 1948 on a deactivated World War II military base. Its opening day enrollment was just 500, but, in the years since, it has grown into one of the nation's largest -- and finest -- community colleges, enrolling more than 25,000 students.
Orange Coast College is committed to enhancing student success by providing: exemplary programs that lead to associate degrees; programs that transfer to other institutions of higher education; and, programs that award occupational certificates and provide continuous workforce improvement. The college also delivers quality instruction in basic skills and English as a Second Language.
Situated on the Southern California coast, 50 miles south of Los Angeles and 80 miles north of San Diego, Orange Coast College is just four miles from the Pacific Ocean. It sits on a beautiful 164-acre park-like campus located in the hub of Orange County's booming South Coast Metro shopping, arts and high tech center.
OCC is just 10 minutes from Orange County's John Wayne Airport; 10 minutes from the Orange County Performing Arts Center; 10 minutes from one of the nation's largest shopping malls; 12 minutes from the University of California at Irvine; 12 minutes from some of Southern California's most spectacular beaches; 20 minutes from Disneyland; an hour from downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood; and less than two hours from beautiful mountain and desert resorts. |
