Michael Student part-time work during academic year: Student educational loans: Savings from summer jobs: Although the family contribution is relatively high, Michael could still receive a Board of Governors Fee Waiver, but only if he files the FAFSA. Michael could reduce the amount his parents need to contribute by saving more during the summer and working up to 20 hours a week during the year. Michael can also reduce his parents' portion of costs if he receives scholarship aid. If Michael or his parents need to take out educational loans, the loans would most likely be unsubsidized loans.
