Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, athletic talent, leadership, community service, a special talent, or a skill you possess. Scholarships typically offset your need to work and borrow in order to cover your costs.
Colleges and universities offer scholarships as do various private organizations. Private organizations that offer scholarships might include such things as your local high school, Rotary Club, the Gates Millennium Foundation, or the Coca-Cola Company. You should check with the college or organization you are interested in to see if there are other requirements.
You can search for scholarships on CaliforniaColleges website.

Some scholarships are reserved for those who demonstrate financial need and you will also need to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or the CSS Profile. See "Apply for Financial Aid (FAFSA)".
WARNING! Scholarship Scams
Beware of scholarship search scams!
You should never pay anyone who promises to help you find scholarship opportunities. The services they offer are usually found for free from educational websites and officials. For more information visit the
Federal Trade Commission site.
