New Skills Assessment will Provide Students with Career Matches

June 23, 2023

Beginning in June of 2023, there will be a new tab in My Career Plan called Top Careers. Top Careers will display a curated list of a student’s top 20 careers based on their most recent results from Interest Profiler, Skills, and Work Values career assessments.

Career assessments to help students discover their strengths and interests, learn how they connect to fulfilling careers, and understand the steps they’ll need to realize their goals. As part of our continual efforts to improve the student user experience on CaliforniaColleges.edu, we have added a new career assessment for high school students called Skills. Skills will provide career matches based on a student’s skills.
Current assessments focus on interests, values, and other traits, but not skills. This fills a gap in students’ career exploration on CaliforniaColleges.edu.

We do this by ensuring that the educational systems serving students are able to successfully share data with one another through CaliforniaColleges.edu To accomplish this, we collaborate with educational institutions across the state, including the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC).
