The California College Guidance Initiative

What is the California College Guidance Initiative?

The California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) is a state-funded nonprofit that works to smooth the path to college and career for all California students, especially those who have been underrepresented in higher education.

Our Goals

CCGI removes obstacles to student success and helps create a clearer pathway between K-12 and higher education. CCGI does this through a combination of data-driven tools and student-focused resources, and by building districts’ capacity to manage and use student data. CCGI does this by managing the state’s official college and career planning platform, CaliforniaColleges.edu.

Through CaliforniaColleges.edu, we offer a unique suite of college, career and financial aid planning information, curricula, and tools. From exploring potential career paths to launching and tracking college and financial aid applications, CaliforniaColleges.edu helps students discover their college and career goals, make plans for how to achieve them, and launch into fulfilling futures.

CaliforniaColleges.edu also serves as the foundation of the California Cradle-to-Career (C2C) Data System. Our mission is to smooth the path to college for California students and unify the efforts of the institutions that serve them. We do this through advocating for policy change, providing a foundation for data and guidance infrastructure for the C2C Data System, and helping educators move towards more data-driven practices and accurate data management.
